Federation of Citizens’ Associations Tax Report

November 28th, 2007 No comments

Don Stewart our WBCA representative on the Federation of Community Associations led a review of the Municipal Property Assessment process with other community association representatives.

The result is a recommendation that makes property tax increases equal across the City and saves taxpayers over $100M per year as it proposes to eliminate the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation.

Let’s create a short cut to the Transitway!

November 6th, 2007 No comments

Residents of Selby and Ferndale want to leave their cars at home and walk directly to the Transitway and Superstore.

At the fall Annual General Meeting this request was made to our new MPP, Yasir Naqvi and he has agreed to meet with us to pursue how we can open the pathway at the east ends of Selby and Beechgrove. View map

An informal path once existed along the side yard of the Centre Jules Leger, but this was completely fenced in for the safety of the school population. The construction of an additional fence will be proposed to restore a public pathway between the two streets. Two overhead light standards already exist along the path but approximately 200 ft of fencing will be required.
